Mr. Martins is responsible for the Engineering Department. He obtained a degree in Computer Science by the University of Coimbra in 1998. From 1998 to 2000 he was a researcher at the Dependable Systems Group of the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra, where he participated in the European Eureka Project (E!1921) "JAMES - A Platform of Mobile Agents for the Management of Telecommunication Networks". In 2000, he co-founded Present Technologies. He was the recipient of an award from the European Commission concerning his participation as Technical Manager in the SISone4ALL project (Schengen Information System implementation). Since 2013 he has been working in the Space Weather subject area, in the identification and awareness of the Space Weather impact on economic activities, mainly for the Aviation / Air Navigation vertical market. He was the Project Manager of the ESA PTTI project "Solar Risk Service for Air Navigation" (in 2014) and the ESA Small ARTES project “SWAIR - Space Weather impact on GNSS service for Air Navigation” (in 2016). Currently, he is leading "SWAIR - Space Weather and GNSS monitoring services for Air Navigation", an ESA Business Applications Demonstration Project.
