Tony Grady
Deputy Director for flight Operations for the Reno Air Races, Former Air Force Test Pilot and Captain


Tony Grady was born December 5, 1955, in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.  He attended high school at International School, Bangkok, Thailand from where he graduated in 1973.  After graduation he was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.  In 1977 he graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering. At graduation he was distinguished as, “The Cadet Who Best Exemplifies The Highest Ideals of Loyalty, Integrity and Courage,” in the Class of 1977. He holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, USA, and a Master of Airpower Art and Science from the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, USA.  He is also a graduate of The United States Air Force Test Pilot School, located at Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA.

Commissioned through the United States Air Force Academy, Tony entered undergraduate pilot training at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona, in June 1977.  He served in the United States Air Force for twenty years. Tony Grady is an experienced test pilot with over 5,000 flying hours, in 40 different aircraft including the F-16 and B-2 Stealth Bomber.

After the Air Force, Tony flew for FedEx for the next twenty years.  He retired as a MD-11 Captain.  While at FedEx he served as an Instructor and a Line Check Airman.  He also flew as a DC-10 Second Officer, an A-300 Airbus and MD-11 First Officer.

Tony is currently the Deputy Director for Flight Operations for the National Championship Air Races, held in Reno, Nevada, USA.
