Sustainability in aviation is one of the topics under debate at the Portugal Air Summit

Starting in June 2025, Wizz Air will launch daily flights between Milan and Abu Dhabi, with tickets starting at €90 (one-way). The journey will last over seven hours, and according to the airline, “this is the first of many services that will leverage the greater range and efficiency of the Airbus A321XLR, revolutionizing intercontinental travel and making it more accessible than ever.”

Wizz Air CEO József Váradi stated:
“We are already operating several long routes of five to six hours with great customer satisfaction, and the A321XLR will allow us to expand our exceptional offer to seven to eight-hour flights.”

With Wizz Air operating the first A321XLR based in Italy, at Milan-Malpensa Airport, Armando Bruini, CEO of Milan Airports (SEA), commented: “This new aircraft will allow us to diversify routes, increase capacity and flight seasonality, and adjust Malpensa’s offering for longer routes.”

This advance in the use of more efficient aircraft, such as the Airbus A321XLR, highlights the importance of sustainability in the aviation sector. This is one of the key topics to be debated at the Portugal Air Summit, where experts will discuss the future of sustainable aviation and new dynamics to reduce the environmental impact of air travel.
